The Video Game Soda Machine Project

Overwatch

The new Busan map hit Overwatch’s Public Test Region earlier today, and it features these awesome D.Va-endorsed Nano Cola machines! Blizzard also released concept art of the soda machine and other assorted Nano Cola stuff.

Meanwhile, these drink machines appear in the MEKA pilot cafeteria (along with a pair of touchscreen soda fountains).

I’m excited that we’re finally getting some lore on Overwatch’s soda cans in the latest animated short. Specifically, they talk!

The Misfits

The Misfits is an Early Access arena shooter featuring these halftone vending machines — including everyone’s favorite, Sodar Pop! Let’s take a closer look…

Thanks for the screenshots, Cornelius!

NORTH

These drink machines from PS4 cyberpunk adventure NORTH look like they’ve spent a couple of years at the bottom of the ocean. Thanks for the screenshot, Chris!

ShadowSide

Ho ho ho! It seems old Saint Nick left a cola machine under the Christmas tree in this rather depressing bar from first-person explore ’em up ShadowSide. Thanks for the screenshot, Cornelius. [Source]

Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass

I don’t recommend shaking down the vending machines in Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass for cash. You wouldn’t like them when they’re angry.

Honestly, a gorilla crushing lightning bolts sounds pretty awesome. Put me down for a six-pack of Xtreme Thunder.

Later in the game, there’s also a high-level version of the Vendotron called the Vendomax. In addition to snacks, it vends Boom Pop and Energy Rex.

Thanks for the screenshots, Dominic!

Persona 2: Innocent Sin

Okay, so it’s entirely possible I skipped through a bunch of dialogue boxes to grab this soda machine screenshot from Persona 2: Innocent Sin and didn’t get that Sumaru Prison is a live music venue and not, you know, an actual prison. That explains all the instruments and amps and stuff.

Zombi

A friendly policeman takes me on a tour of a London Underground station and its fine vending machines in Zombi (a.k.a. ZombiU for the Wii U).
